Please, see how it's explained here. Explanation: Hairline finish-80-140 grit finish-A well defined directional polish. Starting base substrate is a No. 4 finish sheet; these sheets are polished to provide a "continuous long grain" Hairline look. A finish which is popular with architects for its aesthetic look, it is equally popular with fabricators due to it's ease of fabrication and finish-matching properties after welding operations. http://www.pacificplus.com/products.htm |

brushed aluminium finish Explanation: As opposed to polished, burnished, etc. Brushed usually means brushed in one direction, which gives the appearance of hairline scratches, as it can be seen quite well here: www.mutr.co.uk/prodDetail.aspx?prodID=643 I think "hair-lined" originates from Chinese translations or maybe some other language as well, and shouldn't really be used. |
