An example of the difference between rates and ratios is shown in the figure on p. 107. Legal abortion rates are defined as the number of legal abortions per 1,000 women age 15 to 44 years.Women experiencing legal abortions are in the numerator, and all women of childbearing age are in the denominator.The abortion ratio is the number of legal induced abortions per 1,000 live births.The numerator, the number of legal induced abortions, is not a part of the denominator, live births.

Therefore, it is a ratio and not a rate.

oran ve orantı denebilir sizin koyduğunuz çerçeveye göre.

Fakat bence, "ratio=oran" olarak çevirmeli, rate karşılığı içinse bağlama uygun olacak "rate=sayı/miktar/düzey/sınır" gibi bir karşılık düşünmek daha doğru olur.

Böylece "sayı/miktar/faiz/sınır/tutarlar.... VE ORANLAR" şeklinde güzel bir tercüme yapabiliriz. Bağlamı bilseydik rate için de uygun bir kelime önerebilirdik, verdiğiniz bilgiler çerçevesinde bu kadar söyleyebiliyorum.
