English term or phrase: Muted print
This term occurs in a manual for an offset printer. It seems to be a mode of operation. I have found it on the web in a context of printing on textile and posters. It might mean that the print is softened, but I miss an exact term in Swedish within the field of graphical reproduction.

An example of where this occurs in the manual:
"Muting is activated by the delivery area sensor"

Maybe that sensor detects that the coloring is over-saturated and therefore "mutes" the supply of ink?

Certainly an adequate answer for the general term. In my case however this term seems to refer to a state where printing units of an offset press are bypassed - "muted".

Notes to answerer
Asker: Tack för tipset som säkert är relevant. Jag har också gissat på att det går att använda "dämpning" som allmän term. Det är dock möjligt att "muting" avser förbikoppling av vissa tryckverk i pressen.
