I will not challenge Joakim's answer, but I would like to mention that a Jerrycan is a rather specific kind of 'bensindunk'. Strangely, the Swedes have not adopted the otherwise pan-European name for these fuels cans. That may be due to them not having any WW2-history, as the can took it's name from the British slang for Germans during the war - Jerrys.
Anyhow, it seems that a specific Jerrycan is called a 'jeepdunk' in Sweden - in addition to Joakim's reference this is also confirmed from other sources. If you refer to this specific kind of can, and not just any fuel can, I suggest you consider using the more specific 'jeepdunk' instead of the generic 'bensindunk'. |
