Hi Neil, You are right; invest just as much effort in answering as the asker has. And yet, my own answer "beggars belief", as you say, and you are probably right -even though all this is pretty much straightforward from a clinical point of view. And so the explanation, which was not given before in spite of previous comments, is intended to address both your comments and the implicit original question; is a literal rendering appropriate in this case? And my answer is you could use a literal rendering but a non literal one would be more appropriate in this case -as originally stated and finally explained. I think it is interesting though (sometimes) to go a little deeper in a translation. And this is one of those cases where the literal translation is just so common that makes one feel it must be the right one -while it actually is "a bit wrong". No matter what, you are fully right that askers should invest at least a little effort explaining the whats and the whys of their doubts. ¡Saludos! |
