Ambiguity 17:45 Jun 18, 2009
The English text is ambiguous.
First, does 'she' refer to Sultana ... or Mengana ... or someone else? This may be clear from the wider context; and if not, then the same ambiguity can easily be incorporated in the translation.
Second, "she would not be involved in Brenda’s care in the near future" could mean 'she is now involved but will cease to be involved sometime soon', or that 'she is not involved now, will not be involved in the next few days/weeks - but might become involved at time time after that'.
The second ambiguity will, I think, affect the Spanish translation significantly. |
