O "HA TENIDO UN GRAN ECO EN LA PRENSA", "SE LE HA DADO MUCHA PUBLICIDAD EN LA PRENSA"...

IMO, "great" no se refiere a "estupendo o muy bueno" sino siemplemente a que se le ha dado bastante cobertura por parte de la prensa a la última versión del software, o que ha tenido mucha repercusión o eco en la prensa (literalmente "recibir gran prensa")...

Si el autor hubiera querido hacer notar el sentido de "recibir un feedback positivo" habría dicho cosas como "to receive a positive response", "a positive press reception", "it has been well received by the press", "to get very good reviews by press"...

Otro punto a tener en cuenta son las acepciones del término "great": "gran/grande/numeroso". El uso de "great" como "excelente o fenomenal" es coloquial o familiar.
