La expresión es originada durante unos juegos de videos profesionales conocidos como los “Egames” . El equipo Norte Americano llamado Cloud9 (C9) vs. Afreeca Freecs durante la temporada número 2 Overwatch Apex. El equipo C9 accidentalmente dejaron sin argumentar o disputar unos puntos por varias rondas del juego y aunque el equipo C9 gana el partido durante el tiempo extra Afreeca Freecs gana el partido. En pocas palabras el equipo ganador se lleva el premio por falta técnica y no por ser un equipo superior. Como resultado se reconoce los resultados de ese partido como el origen de la expresión C9 la abreviación del equipo norte americano Cloud9 y convirtiéndose en una frase común en la comunidad de juegos de video especialmente el juego de video “Overwatch”.
