Asker: Most of the answers were good, but the way the term was being used made me pick envase/paquete as it sometimes would apply to a spread and others to cold meats. So thank you once again.

Esos recipientes para alimentos, muchas veces de plástico, se llaman "potes" en Chile; no sé en cuáles países más.

Ahora, "tub spread" al parecer es algo que no cabe en el concepto.

Empaque en forma de tubo


Explanation:
If you translate it literally tubo is OK, but if you see pictures of tube packing in the internet you will see pictures of packing with tub shape

For a Spanish reader, at least in Mexico the only way to understand the meaning of tub is "Empaque en forma de tubo"

Asker: Muchas gracias por tu aporte. Mi impresión es que hacen un uso demasiado amplio de la palabra tub. Ejemplo: lunch meat tubs. Difícilmente puedas envasar carnes en un tubo. En este caso puntual, usé simplemente paquete.
