We have a different understanding of the ST, It makes far more sense to me to see "farmland" in the meaning of "a rural area where farming is practiced" even in he ST. For example. "non-natural environment that has been deliberately cleared" would apply to "farming areas" not to the soil/ground? Same for "Despite being heavily managed" - that would more apply to an area of countryside?

U navedenom kontekstu (predmet ovog KudoZ pitanja) je očigledno u pitanju značenje pod 2 kao što sam već navela u odgovoru i objasnila u odgovoru na vaš "peer comment", pogotovo što se u istoj rečenici pojavljuje i pojam "countryside", kao što je kolega Miljković lepo primetio.

Različiti konteksti -> različita značenja.
