Thanks, I think that "старший преподаватель" верно, потому что "доцент" в научном учреждении - не должность, а звание, кроме того, есть должность "lecturer", это, похоже, просто "преподаватель"

agree  Vanda Nissen: Well, I have just applied for the reader's position at the University and they have already eliminated people without a PhD, at the same time it is definetely not a professor's position so Fiona's variant is the only possible one
