Распространяя предложенный Криком подход на пучки состоящие из трех и более спиралей, они вводят понятие циклическая комплементарность выступов и впадин ("cyclic complementarity of knobs-into-holes») для описания упаковок 3-,4-, и 5-спиральных пучков.
