În general ambele variante (complex şi staţiune) sunt corecte raportate la situaţia din România. În particular pentru Maldive, termenul complex este mai potrivit, şi iată de ce: acolo există nenumărate insule mici si foarte mici, atoli, nepopulate, dar pe care s-a construit un complex turistic care include toate cele necesare turiştilor din întreaga lume. Este destul de forţat (cu excepţia cazului în care ştim cu siguranţă) să spunem staţiune (cum ar fi Saturn de la noi, de exemplu) în condiţiile care acel atol are 1 kmp, să zicem. Deşi termenul resort începe să fie folosit şi la noi, personal consider că este încă un barbarism
