English term or phrase: delusion
ECT should be considered as a first line therapy when patients are severely ill or are especially delusional or at a high risk of suicide.
These drugs block the action of acetylcholinesterase, the key enzyme involved in the breakdown of acetylcholine in the synaptic cleft , and may also improve some non-cognitive symptoms, such as delusions.
Psychotic symptoms include visual hallucinations (seeing things that are not there), hearing voices or false smells or taste, delusions (often a conviction that something has been stolen) and mistaken identity (believing a relative has been replaced by an impostor for example).

A delusion is a fixed belief that is either false, fanciful, or derived from deception. In psychiatry, it is defined to be a belief that is pathological (the result of an illness or illness process) and is held despite evidence to the contrary. As a pathology, it is distinct from a belief based on false or incomplete information, dogma, stupidity, apperception, illusion, or other effects of perception.

iluzie

Explanation:
