Juxtapunere, suprapoziţie etc. sunt concepte care exprimă o relaţie spaţială între obiecte bine definite (primul, al doilea; cel de jos, cel de deasupra). Or, "dithering" nu are nicio legătură cu relaţia precisă, ci cu mişcarea, mâzgălirea, intercalarea... aşa cum o arată şi definiţa în engleză a termenului specializat.
