Sunt cunoscute doua tipuri de impingement: Primul se numeste impingement de tip cam. Acest lucru se intampla atunci cand capul rotund al femurului nu este la fel de rotund pe cat ar trebui sa fie. Este mai mult sub forma manerului unui pistol. Este chiar mentionat ca o deformare asemanatoare manerului de pistol. Capul femural nu este suficient de rotund pe o parte (si e prea rotund pe cealaltaalta parte), insuficient pentru a avea o miscare lina in cavitatea cotiloida.
