Estou revisando a tradução de um seriado, e aí aparece a seguinte frase:

He was the superintendent of the building where we lived

As frases antes e depois não têm relação com essa, então não sei se ajudaria.

A interpretação que fiz de "superintendent" é diferente da tradução que encontrei no texto e diferente das que aparecem nos dicionários que consultei. Não vou mencionar agora porque não gosto de influenciar as respostas. Como vocês traduziriam?
