اشتباه اساسی، اشتباه در انگیزه‏های اصلی است كه به رضا منتهی می‏شود. یعنی اشتباه، "علت اصلی یا عمده تصمیم گرفتن"25 باشد. قبل از تراضی طرفین، جهات گوناگونی در ترغیب و تشویق دو طرف به انجام معامله تأثیر می‏گذارد. بعضی از این جهات، شوق اصلی را كه به رضایت منتهی می‏شود، ایجاد می‏كند و بعضی دیگر هر چند مشوق رضا می‏باشند، شوق اصلی را برنمی ‏انگیزند.

گُناهان کَبیره در تعالیم دینی اسلامی گناهانی هستند که در قرآن و روایات امامان شیعه بر مرتکبین آن‌ها وعده آتش دوزخ داده شده‌است. در شماره و تعداد گناهان کبیره بین مذاهب مختلف اسلامی (شیعه و سنی) اختلاف است. بعضی تعداد آن را ۲۵ و بعضی دیگر هفتاد شمرده‌اند[نیازمند منبع].
