Hi Safiollah, you are right, "magnetopause" is indeed the "boundary of a magnetosphere" ("the abrupt boundary between a magnetosphere and the surrounding plasma" to be precise), but then it should be translated as مرز مغناطیسی کره مغناطیسی. Using مرز مغناطیسی alone is both confusing and inaccurate. Thanks a lot!

Dear Reza,
"magnetopause" is defined as the outer "boundary" of a magnetosphere in "Webster's New Third International Unabridged Dictionary". And so "boundary" can be translated as "مرز "; as in Aryanpur's English to Persian dictionary for "magnetopause" we have "مرز مغناطيسى‌" or "كشندا مرز". Moreover if we google these terms we'll find out that "مرزمغناطيسى" is more frequent than "مکث مغناطیسی". While there are 600 occurrences for the first one, there are only 2 occurrences for the latter.

You are right, "Imager for magnetopause-to-aurora global exploration" is indeed a proper noun and therefore you can even leave it in English if you want. But it is a good idea to include the translation in brackets after the English term. Again, I emphasize that this is a proper noun. Thanks!

@ Safiollah jan, your translation is mostly correct with two exceptions:
- because this is a proper noun, I really suggest putting the مکث مغناطیسی تا شفق part in chevrons otherwise it will really be confusing to the end-user (they will think this is actually the function of this satellite, whereas this is simply a proper name).
- "magnetopause" is مکث مغناطیسی, which is not exactly the same as مرز مغناطیسی. Thanks a lot!

با توجه به اینکه کار این ماهواره صرفا اکتشاف مرز و محدوده گسترش میدان مغناطیسی زمین در فضا هست در اینجا کلمه
global
رو نمیشه "جهانی" ترجمه کرد، یکی دیگه از معانی این کلمه جامع و یا کلی هست که به نظر من برای این ترکیب مناسب تره.
در این صورت میشه گفت:
ماهواره تصویرگر برای اکتشاف جامع مرز مغناطیسی (زمین) تا شفق قطبی

بله، بهتره که ترجمه بشه. البته من تو جستجوهام نتونستم معادل فارسی براش پیدا کنم مواردی که بود مثل لینک پایین

چون از پیش معادلی براش نداریم و معانی کلمات هم مشخصه، باید خودتون دست به کار بشید و معادل بسازید.
