English to Norwegian translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - Slang / Slang, archaic, common speech
English term or phrase: shoddy work
I am actually looking for a word that describes a performace of an artist who doesn't really perform for art's sake, but only for money, so that the performance is very poor, and it often takes place in a place of low quality of service (like playing in bars for easy money). In painting you can call the kind of perfomance "smøreri", but what do you call it generally speaking of all the forms of art?
The word should not be entirelly slang, because I'm translating an article by a professor in bioethics and he uses very florid language.

halvhjertet arbeid
Explanation:
Kanskje "halvhjertet" arbeid passer her. Det er jo arbeid man utfører uten å gå ordentlig inn for det - just for the money and not for the honour;)

Explanation:
Hi Kat,

If the meaning that you want to express here, is to say that something complies with its function but is not the real thing, you may want to use "forlorent arbeid" (artificial).

Hope it helps.

Morten.

Example sentence(s):
  • forloren, tidligere brukt på norsk i betydningen tapt, mistet; betegner nå falsk, uekte, kunstig

venstrehåndsarbied

Explanation:
