Asker: Spekulasjonsmitvet seems not to be the most precise translation as this is only ONE OF MANY possible asset motives. That is when people keep money because they expect change of interest rates. But they can keep for other reasons.

neutral  Svein Hartwig Djaerff: This is actually a sub field under asset motive, along with Portfolio motive

-> I would rather say that "speculative motive" denotes Keynes's contribution to money theory and "portfolio motive" denotes Tobin's contribution. At least in your Wikipedia reference.

investeringsmotiv

Explanation:
See alternative definition on the link below.: "Asset motive
The asset motive treats money, in the broader sense of including interest-bearing bank deposits, as a particular type of a financial asset among many others. While it is still assumed that money is held in order to carry out transactions, this approach focuses on the potential return on various assets (including money) as an additional motivation."

The asset motive can be subdivided into "Speculative motive" and "Portfolio motive".

I would suggest using "investeringsmotiv" (investment motive) for this, as the main idea in this case is to use cash/bank deposits as an investment vehicle, an instrument to hold wealth/assets.

Notes to answerer
Asker: This translation might be misleading. Asset motive refers to a situation when people keep money, because they see value in it, as opposed to investing - which is always caused by belief that sth else would have better value than money
