agree  Evija Rimšāne: Cien. tinageta, Jūs taču pati apgalvojat, ka metilsalicilāts ir tikai eļļa no šiem augiem, nevis pati ziemciete. "Hence the common name" attiecas uz "OIL OF wintergreen", nevis pašu augu "wintergreen".

disagree  Kunik: Methyl salicylate (oil of wintergreen) is a natural product of MANY SPECIES of plants. Some of the plants producing it are called wintergreens, hence the common name.

  -> The asker is interested in the translation of the term "wintergreen" and not of "methyl salicylate", which is only a component (about 98%) of the oil of wintergreen. "Ziemciete" in Latvian refers to several species of plants, as you can see from my answer
