neutral  Ralf A. Schumacher: I'd agree with the" right now" portion, as "immediate" means "direct, straight" into the listener's experience. But that can also work with older music.

agree  Yumico Tanaka (X): In this context, the word could mean both "very right now" and "connecting to the audience." However, 色あせていない here has the connotation that it has not faded even after so much time has passed. I would put "時代に即した" or "時代の波に乗った" or something like this.

「この1993年になっても一番圧倒的なのは、バンドとその曲がどれくらい聴衆の身近に感じられるかという程度です。幻想的な"All Tomorrow's Parties"を演じるジョン・ケールは特にそうです。」のような意味合いで表現してみたら如何でしょうか。

もうとっくに終わってる件とは思いますが、ことVUのことなので・・・
バナナ・アルバムでも何でも、VUの音楽を聴いてみればimmediate 部分の翻訳はズバリ、「このバンドと彼らの音楽が1993年の今聴いても新しいこと」でしょう!1960年代、彼らは初めてゲイやドラッグを歌にしました。その言葉と音の世界は1993年はもちろん21世紀の今聴いても確かに全く色褪せていません。
ちなみに、「今聴いても新しい」は音楽関係の文中よく使われますよね。
