English term or phrase: Painted Eyebrows
Greetings,

As far as I can tell, 引き眉 is used for painted eyebrows nowadays.

However, the term I need is the historical term used for the painted eyebrows sported by high-born women of the time of Shikibu Murasaki etc., i.e. eight hundred years ago or so.

All the best,

引眉
Explanation:
平安時代の日本の上流社会では、眉毛を抜いた上で「掃墨」という粉末状の墨で眉を描く風習があり、引眉と呼ばれた。
During the Heian Period, which Shikibu Murasaki lived, in the upper class society, women plucked their eyebrows, and used a powdered charcoal called 「掃墨」to paint their eyebrows, and this was called 引眉。(From Wikipedia)
So I guess the wording hasn't changed for over 800 years.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Many thanks! What is the correct pronunciation of 掃墨, please? I can't find it anywhere.

Asker: Ah! http://www.h4.dion.ne.jp/~kirasyui/tutumi/haizumi/haizumitop.html gives はいずみ as the reading.
