English term or phrase: GC-rich or At-rich regions
Dear all,

I am trying to figure out the meaning of these words (GC-rich or AT-rich regions) in the context of the following example sentences.

---At the metaphase stage of M phase the chromosomes are so highly condensed that gene expression is uniformly shut down. --Staining withdyes that preferentially to GC-rich or AT-rich regions can give reproducible chromosome banding patterns that allow different chromosomes to be differentiated.---

These sentences were extracted out of a biology textbook. If anyone could answer what the GC-rich or AT-rich regions are, please kindly reply to me.

Yours best,

Y

高GC(含有)領域 または 高AT(A+T)領域/GC (G+C)rich またはAT (A+T)rich
Explanation:

Explanation:
