Hi,

"The Holy Spirit is the mighty power from the Heavenly Father and the Messiah dwelling within us so that we may have the ability and strength to bring our lives into a state of perfection pleasing to our Heavenly Father."

I am struggling mainly with this last phrase. The source text is a Statement of Doctrine. Any further suggestions?


Lo Spirito Santo è il gran potere del Padre Celeste e del Messia abitando in noi affinché possiamo avere la capacità e la forza di portare le nostre vite ad un stato di perfezione, piacevole al nostro Padre Celeste.

Più che "potere", che ha spesso un significato deteriore, io utilizzerei "potenza" ("grande potenza"). Nella traduzione italiana dei testi sacri, infatti, si parla spesso di "Potenza di Dio".

Asker: Thank you Gaetano for your response- it's really helped! I definitely think 'potenza' works a lot better in this instance. I also really like the use of 'gradito'. It's a real shame I can't grade all three answers as most helpful as I will probably be combining elements of each.

Asker: Thank you very much for your response Mariagrazia! I really like 'potente facolta' and hadn't thought of this phrase at all. I also think 'condurre' works a lot better than what I had. I think for the last phrase, however, I agree more with Silvia in the use of 'gradire' over compiacere. Thanks again for all your input :)
