L’intellectual property manager (Ip manager) è responsabile della proprietà intellettuale-industriale e si occupa della politica di innovazione dell’impresa svolgendo una duplice funzione:- ottimizza il lavoro dei tecnici del reparto Ricerca & Sviluppo in funzione delle risorse disponibili o dei progetti e scopi prefissati; - verifica la situazione del mercato di riferimento ed essere aggiornato sugli sviluppi della ricerca tecnico-scientifica. Significa, per esempio, commissionare indagini su banche dati specifiche per verificare se esistono risorse già disponibili, che possono essere utilizzate al fine di ridurre tempi e investimenti. Una volta realizzato il progetto innovativo, l'Ip manager deve adottare gli strumenti necessari per proteggerlo (attraverso il deposito del brevetto), prima che questo venga divulgato;- protegge e gestisce lo sfruttamento del brevetto; deve infatti vigilare che non esistano imitazioni o contraffazioni che possano pregiudicare la quota di mercato ottenuta grazie all'innovazione.
