Mi verrebbe da scrivere "non capisci le persone che seguono il proprio istinto", ma non so se è corretto. Qualcuno potrebbe aiutarmi? Grazie!

Non credo c'entri l'istinto. "To march to the beat of one's own drum" significa agire fuori dagli schemi, avere un ritmo tutto proprio. Non c'è un vero e proprio equivalente italiano. Magari cercando nel vasto repertorio di proverbi e modi di dire potrai trovare tu stessa qualcosa :)
