Non è chiaro nemmeno a me, potrebbe forse essere un modo (scritto un po' male) di dire che non bisogna mai ostruire o lasciare che qualcosa finisca in mezzo al meccanismo di chiusura, impedendone il corretto funzionamento?

L'interblocco e' appunto un dispositivo di sicurezza che impedisce il funzionamento di un qualsiasi impianto nel caso in cui risultino "aperte" porte, coperchi...ect etc ..Quindi in questo caso "shield" viene usato proprio per "proteggere"; cio significa che non devi assolutamente porre niente che possa impedire , appunto linterblocco.
