"In finance, a dividend unit is the right to receive payments equal to actual dividends paid on a share or a stock. A dividend unit can be granted for a term, for example 20 years from the date of grant. In the United States, dividend units are sometimes offered to employees as part of their retirement plan."

Si tratta dunque di diritti a ricevere importi pari ai dividendi distribuiti di una società, svincolato dalla detenzione di azioni.

Nel diritto svizzero esiste un concetto apparentemente assimilabile: i "buoni di godimento". Sono arrivato a questo termine perché, nelle traduzioni in inglese degli atti in cui sono nominati, i "buoni di godimento" sono stati resi con "dividend right certificates". Puoi trovare delle definizioni nei link in basso; proprio come le "dividend unit", i buoni di godimento conferiscono il diritto di percepire i dividendi, vengono tipicamente assegnati a lavoratori o altri "stakeholder" in forma di bonus e non costituiscono in alcun modo quote di partecipazione dell'emittente; una differenza, tuttavia, è che a determinate condizioni possono essere convertiti in azioni. Si tratta di un concetto molto specifico, me ne rendo conto, ma spero di averti dato un indizio utile.
