Per esempio, prima dell'inizio della combustione, il lavaggio della camera di combustione è una delle operazioni obbligatorie su GVR (HRSG), TG (GT), caldaie tradizionali (boiler), etc. Viene fatto allo scopo di evitare fenomeni di flash o di combustioni non controllate nelle fasi di avviamento dovuti a sacche di metano o gas incombusti residui (dal precedente funzionamento).
