NEL TESTO si suggerisco al governo americano d'istituire un'agenzia governativa, composta di militari e civili, che favorisca e promuova la ricerca scientifica di base e la formazione scientifica, con fondi governativi.
Che cosa signficia in italiano director? consigliere o direttore? Il board è il consiglio d'amministraizone in italiano?

The chief executive officer of the Foundation should be a DIRECTOR appointed by the Members. Subject to the direction and supervision of the Foundation Members (acting as a board), the director should discharge all the fiscal, legal, and administrative functions of the Foundation. The director should receive a salary that is fully adequate to attract an outstanding man to the post.

Il problema è che:

1. Non si può usare "l'Amministratore Delegato" perché il termine è già preceduto dal CEO, e il CEO è l'Amministratore Delegato.

2. Per lo stesso ragione non si può usare "l'amministratore": già c'e.

3. Dirigente è riduttivo: certo che l'Amministratore Delegato è il Dirigente; ed sono altrettanto certo che ci saranno dei dirigenti sotto di lui.

4. Dunque, al massimi puoi usare "Capo Dirigente/Dirigente Capo", ma è tautologico: l'AD è esattamente questo: il Dirigente Capo.

Al momento, non vedo 'l'alternativa al "Direttore"
