Si sta parlando di società che hanno l'eccellenza operativa e che quindi hanno una performance migliore sul mercato.

excellent companies outperform the market **by a factor of three**.

Secondo me è.... "il triplo, tre volte tanto" ma ho trovato che ovviamente significa pure "di un terzo", cioè tutto il contrario!
Qui però per logica sembra MOLTIPLICATO e non diviso per tre; cosa ne pensate?

é vero che "by a factor of three" significa sia dividere che moltiplicare x3, ma in questo contesto anche io lo interpreto come moltiplicare, altrimenti non si spiegherebbe l'uso di "outpermform".

Sì, ho letto anche io che potrebbe trattarsi di un terzo.
Tuttavia, da questa definizione mi sembra di capire che se si moltiplica, il numero cresce di tre volte tanto e non di un terzo. Valuta un po' anche tu.
