Buongiorno a tutti. A essere sincero, l'espressione integrale per cui vi chiedo aiuto è "Shop floor".
Anche se su Internet ho trovato traduzioni completamente diverse, qui quella più plausibile sembrerebbe uno spazio apposito, forse già contrassegnato dall'azienda ("Shop", forse, è da intendersi in questo senso). Allego , ovviamente, un pò più di contesto:

1.2. Retort

1. Mark the re-circulation cylinder and retort such that you will be able to re-install it in the same position.
2. Remove the inner re-circulation cylinder and place it on the shop floor.
3. Use a wire brush to gently scrub the retort wall, and both sides of the re-circulation cylinder.
4. Using only clean water, and clean rags, wash the retort walls, and both sides of the re-circulation cylinder.

Shop è normalmente l'area di lavoro; io ho scritto officina, ma potrebbe essere il laboratorio, o un luogo apposito che forse è interpretabile dal testo.

Explanation:
Dato il contesto e dopo alcune ricerche, per "shop floor" si intende anche il posto in cui si lavoro. Un sinonimo è infatti "workplace", "a place where the work is done".
Credo sia proprio a questo che si riferisca, come dire di togliere il cilindro, posarlo sul banco e pulirlo.
