  -> Grazie Sabrina. Anch'io ho pensato subito al carotaggio, ma in genere questo termine viene utilizzato per operazioni svolte sul terreno, con cilindri di dimensioni più grandi, e non sapevo che esistesse qualcosa di simile anche per gli alberi. :-)

  -> Certo, ma se si chima carotatrice la macchina e fa cilindri, mi sono permesso altrettanto per essere più chiaro possibile. Ma ti dò ragionein toto.! Se hai notato ho suggerito le virgolette, onde non farmi sbranare!

"Ho cercato 'carotaggio x stabilire età di un albero", penso che il termine indichi una tecnica, non i campi di applicazione, come lascia pensare il dizionario.
