Reversibile e incapsulato si riferisce a due schermi UV che contengono sostanze diverse. Le molecole dello schermo reversibile sono in grado di reagire alla radiazione UV, ovvero hanno attività ottica (ad esempio le molecole chirali, come la gliceraldeide), le molecole di quello incapsulato sono rivestite, di solito con nanoparticelle o polimeri, che le stabilizzano e non reagiscono o, se lo fanno, lo fanno molto lentamente.
