A "dayparting" ige a "daypart" főnévből ered, aminek a jelentése itt "napszak". Műsorszórási értelemben idősávokra / műsorsávokra (broadcast time periods) osztják a napot, hirdetési idők vonatkozásában használják a "dayparting" kifejezést (marketing szempontból, és nem műsoridő kiosztás szempontjából nézzük a dolgot). A "dayparting" kifejezés bármely média típusra, így online hirdetésekre is vonatkozhat, nem csak televíziós/rádiós hirdetésekre. Pl.:
