A "baffle" az öntőgát, azaz az elem, amit a tálca két végére tesznek, hogy ne folyjon ki a meleg agaróz. "Baffle" hiányában ragasztószalaggal oldja meg az ember ezt a problémát... A "tapered" itt azt jelenti, hogy az elem alul keskenyebb, mint fent, így könnyebb be és ki csúsztatni a gélöntés előtt ill. után.
