charcoal stripping: hormonok és szteroidok eltávolítása szérumból vagy savóból (aktív) szén (adszorpció) segítségével. Az angol kifejezésben nem szerepel az "activated" szó, ezért tettem zárójelbe az "aktívat". A charcoal szén, faszén. Az eljárás alapja a szén felületi megkötő (azaz adszorpciós) képessége.

A charcoal valóban nemcsak faszén lehet, hanem állati eredetű is. Charcoal: a dark or black porous carbon prepared from vegetable or animal substances (as from wood by charring in a kiln from which air is excluded).

Magában a "charcoal-stripped serum" kifejezésben viszont semmi nem utal arra, hogy borjúsavóról lenne szó. Pl. "...a sample of human serum that had been stripped in charcoal and was therefore negative for both anti-Tg and anti-thyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO)..."

Azt hiszem, a "stripping"-re itt legjobb lenne az "elválasztás" szót használni. Sajnos úgy is használják a szakirodalomban, hogy "sztrippelés", de jobb érzésű fordító ilyet úgyse írna le... :)
Tehát az "aktív szenes elválasztással nyert szérum" fordítást is jónak tartom.

azér kedves Pálma, nyilatkozhatnál végre, hogy az általad belinkelt oldal a kérdés szerver része, vagy csak találtál valamit ami olyasmiről szól. Ugyanis a linked alatt van még ilyen szöveg: "Over 20 Years of experience. Top quality at competitive prices". Na, innentől kezdve a vita számomra eléggé komolytalannak tűnik.

Charcoal stripped fetal bovine serum has been absorbed with activated carbon that removes non-polar material such as lipophilic (lipid-related) materials (virus, certain growth factors, hormones and cytokines) regardless of molecular weight but has little effect on salts, glucose, amino acids, etc.

This results in a serum that is more defined since lipid-like components that may impact research results are not in the culture system. These can be added at desired concentrations for improved ability to do lipophilic-related research.

neutral  aradek: Nem a szérumot távolítják el aktív szénnel, csak bizonyos komponenseit.

  -> Tisztában vagyok vele. A kérdés viszont szó szerint így van: charcoal stripped medium/serum. Szerintem nem így szerepel a szövegben, tehát gondolom csak ezekre a részekre volt kíváncsi Pálma. És itt tuti, hogy FBS-ről van szó: Foetal Bovine Serum.
