jalfrezi जलफ्रेजी Explanation: जलफ्रेजी (http://in.jagran.yahoo.com/sakhi/?page=article&articleid=432... Jalfrezi (also jhal frezi, zalfrezi, and many alternative spellings) is a type of Indian curry in which marinated pieces of meat or vegetables are fried in oil and spices to produce a dry, thick sauce. It is cooked with green chillies, with the result that a jalfrezi can range in heat from a medium dish to a very hot one.[1] Other main ingredients include peppers, onion and tomato.[2] The jalfrezi dates from the times of the British Raj when it was created as a way of using leftover meat; the chillies helped to disguise any disagreeable taste.[3] The name comes indirectly from Bengali jhāl, spicy food, and Urdu parhezī, suitable for a diet.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jalfrezi) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 mins (2009-06-15 13:04:46 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- जालफ्रेजी (http://vayanjan.com/2008/01/10/जालफ्रेजी/) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 mins (2009-06-15 13:10:54 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- झाल (jhāl) झाल स्त्री.
