Fiddle has more general meaning: stringed musical instrument which is played with a bow. Usually it means also violin (=kinor), but can also be used in an other meaning, like just a stinged musical instrument (alto, cello etc.) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 23 hrs 31 mins (2005-07-09 21:02:48 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I agree with Akiva, that Kli Prita wasn\'t a right equivalent (although \"strings\"= Kli Meitar can be bowed or plucked). I also agree that \"fiddle\" is a colloquial name for the violin, and a violin is often called a fiddle when used to play a folk music. |
