The Lottery and ΧΧΧ share a zero-tolerance policy towards security breaches. ΧΧΧ utilizes Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to encrypt lottery traffic. The U.S. Government authorizes this standard for the transmission of Top Secret data. Only authorized, ΧΧΧ-manufactured lottery terminals, specifically customized for each customer, have access to the block ciphers allowing messages to be encrypted and decrypted. Only an authorized list of lottery terminals is allowed to communicate over the network, and only to specified server and host equipment. The firewalls and intrusion detection devices on the network will filter or eject all unauthorized communications and provide alerts. Even an authorized, enabled customer terminal has a security logon.
