Cymbopogon is a genus of about 55 species of grasses, native to warm temperate and tropical regions of the Old World and Oceania. It is a tall perennial grass. Common names include lemon grass, lemongrass, barbed wire grass, silky heads, citronella grass or fever grass amongst many others.

καταλαβαίνω ότι ανάλογα με το είδος του Cymbopogon παίρνει και την ονομασία του.

Cymbopogon citratus είναι το λεμονοχορτο, Cymbopogon nardus είναι η σιτρονέλλα, Cymbopogon martini είναι το φοινικόροδο

Επίσης, το λεμονόχορτο στα ελληνικα το συναντούμε και με την ονομασία "βερβένα" ή "βερβαίνα", και με τις λαϊκότερες ονομασίες "λουίζα", "αλοϊζα", που μπορεί να διαφέρουν ανάλογα με την περιοχή. Όντως, έχει χαρακτηριστική λεμονάτη μυρωδιά.

Σύμφωνα με την Wikipedia, στην ίδια σελίδα που παραθέτεις παραπάνω, ως συστατικό σε αρώματα χρησιμοποιείται το martinii, το φοινικόροδο. Δεν είμαι όμως σε θέση να γνωρίζω με σιγουριά. Πολύ συχνά βλέπουμε ότι τα συστατικά των αρωμάτων (π.χ. πάνω στα μπουκαλάκια) αναγράφονται με τη λατινική τους ονομασία.
