Glad you deleted your disagree gofink, because these things tend to go hand in hand. When a baby starts trying to sit up, it is usually at the stage where it appreciates some more solid food and vice-versa, i.e. as of around 6 months.

I assume it means the developmental stages such as lying flat > being able to support their head on their own > sitting on their own etc.

I used strollers with a bassinet when my children were infants and perhaps at 6 month (stage 2?) I would use one, where they sit up. Today you would use the car seat and attach it to the stroller base. I didn't know the bassinet type still existed, since I have not seen any in the US. :)
