A duotone image is made of two colours, such as the black and yellow shown below. There needs to be a balanced curve to produce a balanced duotone because if the curve is flattened and pushed to the top it will produce a flooded colour, as shown below right.

Habe ich zwar im Deutschen noch nicht gesehen, aber der Ausdruck trifft die Situation genau und ist gut: Die eine der beiden Farben breitet sich bei der Einstellung immer mehr aus, bis sie das ganze Bild erfaßt. Die Inseln der anderen Farbe werden immer kleiner, bis alles geflutet ist. Hier riskiere ich sogar eine hohe Sicherheit.

agree  Nicole Schnell: Genauso sieht das dann auch aus. Ob es dafür einen technischen Begriff gibt? Zweifelhaft, weil solche Farbsoßen zumeist unerwünscht sind.
