Ich habe mich letztlich mangels eines feststehenden Ausdrucks dafür entschieden, den englischen Ausdruck stehen zu lassen, wobei ich ihn beim ersten Mal mit "die federführende Partei bei der Schadensabwicklung" erläutert habe. Danke auch an DENDOKTOR für den hilfreichen Link - ich habe das als Anstoß genommen, mich soweit die Zeit reichte ein wenig einzulesen.
