English term or phrase: ticken
Aus der Beschreibung einer Abbildung in einem Buch über Napoleons Gardeinfanterie:

"The Elba Battalion landing at Golfe Juan: detail of an engraving by Friedrich Philip Reinhold from the series "Champagnes de l'Empire" (Vienna, c. 1815). Both Grenadiers and Chasseurs à Pieds are represented. Not the distinctive badges on the cartridge boxes, and the wide variety of legwear including blue, white and ochre trousers as well as some made from striped ***ticken***. An officer in the middle distance wears grey cavalry overalls, buttoned at the sides, while others have bicorns.

Explanation:
Ich habe ein Bild dazu gefunden unter google pictures: "striped ticken"; link:wmboothdraper.com/Patterns/mens_patterns.htm
ticken wird als "twill weave linen tending to be finer than Russia drill" beschrieben. Er ist normalerweise gestreift, kann aber auch weiß sein. Es handelt sich als um eine besondere Leinenart zum Weben für Kissen, Bezüge usw. aber eben auch (früher) für Jacken und Hosen.

Reference

Reference information:
Description : Ticken is a twill weave linen tending to be finer than Russia drill. Ticken was usually striped but was white as well. Used for the same purposes as Russia drill but there are more references for ticken in England. Ticken was commonly used to make breeches, waistcoats, pillows, and bed ticks. Less commonly ticken was used to make trousers, jackets, coats, and women's pockets. The sailor's contract of 1706 called for ticken waistcoats and breeches. Hand sewing this project would work well using 35 / 2 white or off white linen thread.
