Eine Stadt auf Zypern. Im Brockhaus steht "Paphos", aber weit verbreitet findet sich auch die Schreibweise "Pafos" oder "Páfos", letzteres z.B. im Reiseteil der FAZ.

Wie verfahrt Ihr in solchen Fällen generell? Paphos steht hier als ein Beispiel für die Transkription griechischer Toponyme. Es geht um Prospekte für Hotels im östlichen Mittelmeer. Adressaten sind deutschsprachige Reisekunden.

agree  Jonas Pfestorf: Ich kenne diese Stadt ausschließlich in der Schreibung mit ph. Transliterierte Schreibweisen wie "Páfos" (im Gegensatz zu transkribierten Schreibweisen) mögen im akademischen Kontext angemessen sein, aber bei dieser Zielgruppe halte ich sie für unpassend.
