...is my immediate reaction. It is an ingredient (Zutat), and it "shall" be means it is imperative that it is.

Obviously, if it's going into something to be ingested, it would be, wouldn't it?

Thanks very much. Elsewhere I heard that it could be dropped entirely.. it simply is (and will continue to be) a food grade product. This is a statement from the producer, after all.

neutral  mrmp: kann man so sagen, aber um mögliche Missverständnisse (wird vermutlich, wird i.a., ...) auszuschließen, würde ich gerade wegen der conditio sine qua non definitiv "muss ... sein" verwenden, "soll" ist zu schwach, "hat zu sein" gleichbedeutend mit "muss".
