| Reference Reference information: Embedded carbon as in “embedded carbon emissions” are the greenhouse gas emissions from the manufacturing of a product, in terms of CO2 equivalent. These are calculated using a life cycle analysis of the production system. For example, to create a new television, it would create emissions in the mining of the ores and processing of the plastics, the manufacturing processes, and the transportation and distribution. So in some sense, the carbon is embedded in that product.
